The raw beauty of El Nido's limestone cliffs, jutting out from the crystal waters of the Palawan coast, is the stuff of fairytales. Their magnificence is matched only by the point at which unending sky meets fathomless swell. It is plain to see, looking out from the veranda of your small cottage, what inspired the utopian setting of Alex Garland's best-selling novel 'The Beach'.

The Golden Monkey cottages are situated on Ca-alan beach, just a 10 minute walk from El Nido town. You will walk along the beach or meander lazily along the scenic path, through lush rice fields and coconut plantations that back onto virgin forest, as you wind your way to your cottage.

We offer quality accommodation with comfortable fan rooms and clean modern bathrooms. Each cottage has a large veranda and a spectacular view of the islands. Since we are located just outside of El Nido, away from the noise and bustle of the town, we benefit from the peace of the surrounding forests and you will be free simply to relax and absorb the atmosphere.

You can swim just outside the cottages when it is high tide, but there are also fantastic swimming and snorkeling opportunities just 100 meters along the beach. You could also go diving, snorkeling, island hopping, jungle trekking, cliff climbing or kayaking.

You could hire a bike and tour the northern part of Palawan, or hire a boat, and be taken to a secluded beach, to soak up the sun, have a picnic, swim, snorkel and enjoy the magnificent scenery.

Breakfast is included in the price of your cottage, but evening meals are optional. We, at the Golden Monkey, pride ourselves on the quality of our food and offer a variety of menus, many of which are not available in El Nido town.

For the long stay guests, we offer a laundry service at a very affordable price. We can also refill your mineral bottle to save you carrying bottles of water to Ca-alan and minimize plastic waste. Discounts are available for stays of seven days or more.
